CPA Experience Since: 1987
With Realize Since: 2004
Education & Certifications: Certified Public Accountant, California State University, East Bay
Work History: Frank, Rimmerman & Co., Arthur Andersen & Co.
Before embarking on her extraordinary career in public accounting, Jill Lervold spent over a year traveling the world, where she gained a genuine appreciation for diverse cultures and businesses. “While traveling, I was able to interact with people from varied cultures and backgrounds. I loved meeting and getting to know people, and I believe that everyone is unique and special.” To this day, Jill approaches her clientele in the same way, offering services that are specifically tailored to their needs as unique individuals and businesses facing the challenges of working in a global community.
Jill graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Accounting from California State University, East Bay. Since then, she has spent over twenty-five years in public accounting providing technical tax consulting and compliance services to high net worth individuals, partnerships, and corporations. She has extensive experience with professional service companies, including legal firms, private equity entities, and venture capital funds. Jill has also provided accurate and timely compliance services for family groups, high growth companies, and businesses in bankruptcy with multi-state and multi-national operations. Jill works closely with her clients’ financial advisors and attorneys to develop and implement strategic plans that minimize income and estate taxes.
Prior to joining the Realize team, Jill worked for Arthur Andersen & Co. Following her employment at Arthur Andersen & Co., Jill became the partner in charge at the San Francisco office of Frank, Rimmerman & Co.
Outside the office, Jill and her husband are active travelers. Chances are, Jill has either returned recently from a remote location or is in the planning stages for her next trip. Jill describes a recent rainforest experience as “simply amazing. The variety and sheer number of life forms in the jungle is impressive. Everything around you is alive and playing an important role in the ecosystem.”
Around town you might catch Jill with a smile behind the wheel of her Tesla roadster. We’re not sure if this toy is indicative of her sustainability side or her thrill-junky side – probably a bit of both!

After a couple of years in public accounting, Mark discovered that he was interested in pursuing the profession as a career. Since 1972, he’s been providing tax, consulting and audit services to individuals and closely held businesses.
“I’ve stayed in accounting for a couple of reasons,” he explains. “First is the client service aspect of the business. I get to solve problems and there is a lot of personal satisfaction in doing that. Second, I get to work collaboratively with the bright ambitious people who are our clients and that is very stimulating.” More than that, Mark has built personal relationships with many of his clients. “I’ve worked with some of our clients for 30 or more years and because of that they are like extended family,” he reports. “We know our clients are going to be impacted by the decisions that are being made and we want the best possible outcome for them.”
“It feels really rewarding to be of service to the individual or to the family in a way that other people can’t, because we as a firm have a history with them,” he continues. “Clients know that they can count on us.”
Mark is a 1971 graduate of Ohio State University. After receiving a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration degree, he went on to earn a Masters of Business Administration degree at Northwestern University in Illinois and then a Masters of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. The secret is, he’s become a master at taking advantage of the slow times to relax and enjoy life. Mark and his wife have found that when it comes to his wine collecting hobby, proximity is a good thing. With a 5 acre getaway in Sonoma, he’s sure to have a great local selection. In the winter season, however, you’d be more likely to find Mark at his home in Baja Mexico enjoying the lap pool or off for a scuba dive.
